What are the effects of chance?
How does this room sound?
Which ear for which music?
Is art possible without a personal touch?
Can anyone make music?
What is beyond the border?
How does silence sound?
Can a collective compose?
What turnes music into music?
Do all answers answer all questions?
‚Get out of your Cage‘ was developed on the basis of John Cage's theses and ways of working. The content of the piece is their reflection: what do his ideas and strategies that apply to art and society mean to us today? Are they still prolific frames, or have they themselves become ‚cages‘ that need to be expanded or blown up? What favors a quality of play that is random, flexible, open-ended, self-forgetting, without purpose, and thus is not so much meant to being an expression of personal feelings or beliefs but to transform oneself? How is real interdisciplinary cooperation possible? How can one communicate on the background of highly different personal experiences and conceptions of art and life? Is anarchy possible in a production of a piece? Does the 'all-leader‘'principle work, favored by movements like 'Occupy' to build up horizontal structures - and is it a real alternative?
A Quintessenz production 2012 (Jens Schneiderheize, Vinicius, Manuela Reiser, Michael Kolberg, Anna Stern)
