Two to Tango
performance with Judy Lomas
Bezalel-Academy, Jerusalem 1996
In a dark room, a black box seems to float. Circles of light fall through two openings in its top to the ceiling. A tango music plays.
Two heads push through the openings and begin a dance, pass a stone from mouth to mouth, drop it, kiss, spit, shout silently, comment fanatically on a soccer game.
One head addresses the audience with a request in different languages ("Can I have your body, please?"- "Votre corps, s'il vous plait?"), the other head whispers, speaks, and shouts three colors ("black-white-red") The tango fades away, the two heads sink back into the box.
